Analysis: Robinhood Stock Tokens "Supercharge" Meme Coins, Daily Trading Volume Peaks at $440 Million

Odaily News — Robinhood stock tokens are emerging as a new type of liquidity asset for Meme coin trading. Robinhood stock tokens are digital securities that track individual stocks and are backed 1:1 by the corresponding shares held by a custodian. Because these tokens can circulate in the open crypto market, traders can pair them with Meme coins in liquidity pools and swap directly between them — a model that turns equity exposure into "raw material" for onchain speculative trading.

Bloomberg, citing Dune data, reported that daily trading volume for stock token–Memecoin pairs briefly reached approximately $440 million in early September before rapidly declining. According to RWA.xyz data, some popular stock tokens track the S&P 500 ETF, Nvidia, SpaceX, and Meta, among others, with their combined market capitalization at one point reaching approximately $69 million.

Overall, this phenomenon on Robinhood Chain is being reported as another use case for tokenized stocks: traditional equity exposure is beginning to merge with Meme coins, liquidity pools, and onchain speculative trading, while some trading prices may deviate significantly from the underlying real stocks. At the same time, the U.S. regulatory environment has begun to provide some room for tokenized stock trading — the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has previously granted temporary exemptions for onchain tokenized U.S. stock trading under certain conditions. Trump expected to appoint former SEC Chairman Jay Clayton as White House "AI czar

Odaily News: According to two people familiar with the matter, U.S. President Trump is expected to appoint current Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton as the White House's new AI affairs chief ("AI czar"), with an announcement potentially coming as early as Friday local time. White House officials responded by saying that any personnel appointment will be announced directly by Trump himself, and that related reports before a formal announcement are "unfounded speculation."

Clayton is expected to continue serving as Director of National Intelligence. Clayton previously served as Chairman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and led the SEC for most of Trump's first presidential term. Last month, Trump announced plans to establish an "AI Force" and appoint an AI affairs chief to address regulatory discussions surrounding the rapid development of AI; Trump also previously told Axios that Clayton is a suitable candidate for the position. Blast Shuts Down L2: Economic Model Unsustainable, Users Must Withdraw Assets Before October 26

Odaily: Blast announced on X that it will gradually shut down its L2 network. The project stated that its original goal was to build a network capable of long-term operation through its own economic model, serving users and developers. However, the ongoing cost of maintaining Blast now exceeds the revenue generated by the L2, and the team sees no credible path to economic sustainability at this time, leading to the decision to terminate Blast's operations. The team apologized to users and developers who had used Blast, built on it, and supported the ecosystem, and stated that the top priority now is to ensure the shutdown process is as smooth and safe as possible.

Blast has asked all users to withdraw their assets to Ethereum mainnet, including balances held in the Blast PWA. To lower the barrier for withdrawals, the team plans to reduce the withdrawal waiting time to 24 hours. However, once the shutdown process begins, Blast will first process the exit of its Lido assets, which is expected to take about a week. During this period, even though the withdrawal waiting time has been shortened, users will temporarily be unable to withdraw assets.

After the Lido asset exit process is completed, Blast will restore withdrawal functionality with a 24-hour withdrawal waiting time. Users can withdraw assets through Blast's regular interface until October 26, 2026. After October 26, assets can still be withdrawn, but users will need to interact directly with the Blast Bridge contract deployed on Ethereum L1. The team will publish a detailed operation guide beforehand. Blast strongly recommends that users complete their asset withdrawals before October 26.
