House Democrats Discuss Expanding Crypto Market Structure Bill and Restricting Trump and Other Officials from Engaging in Crypto Businesses
Odaily: A Fox Business crypto reporter posted on X that House Democrats are discussing expanding Rep. Maxine Waters' "Crypto Investor and Consumer Protection Act" into a broader crypto market structure bill in the next Congress, incorporating provisions from her previously proposed but unpassed "CLARITY Act," as well as provisions agreed upon by Senate Democrats and Republicans ahead of a September procedural vote. According to three industry sources who spoke with Democratic staffers, the proposal under discussion includes giving the SEC a larger role in regulating the crypto market and limiting the CFTC's role; in addition, Democrats may introduce further ethics provisions to restrict Trump and other federal officials from engaging in crypto businesses.
