According to Odaily Planet Daily, market analyst Matt Grossman noted that Trump nominated Stephen Milan as his candidate for the Federal Reserve Board seat, which will remain vacant until the end of January. Last year, Milan publicly criticized officials with political backgrounds for struggling to remain neutral on the Board. He singled out Chicago Fed President Goolsbee (a former Obama administration official), questioning his ability to truly put politics aside and calling his credibility as a Board member questionable. Milan's assessment of Goolsbee now sounds more like a self-accusation of possible partisan bias. "Pretending to be able to easily switch between highly politicized and supposedly apolitical roles without letting political bias influence policymaking is naive at best and malicious at worst," he wrote at the time.
