Swan Bitcoin Founder Says AI Poses More Immediate Security Threat to Bitcoin
Odaily reports: Cory Klippsten, founder of Swan Bitcoin, said that AI poses a more immediate near-term threat to Bitcoin's security compared with quantum computing. He noted that hackers are using large language models to probe for security vulnerabilities, and a small number of prompts can help attackers identify problems.
Klippsten believes that quantum computers capable of threatening Bitcoin's cryptography are at least a decade away, by which time the network could deploy quantum-resistant protections. He said that rushing to implement such solutions now would add unnecessary complexity.
Brazilian crypto exchange Mercado Bitcoin suspended deposits and withdrawals on Monday due to a security incident, and researchers estimate that more than $46 million flowed out of its wallets. Days earlier, Binance suffered a $6.3 billion hack on October 29, which the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) attributed to North Korean hackers. (Cointelegraph)
