"Bunker Mode" Sparks Crypto Security Debate: Institutional Quantum Risk Response Far Harder Than for Individual Users

Odaily News: As the crypto industry discusses whether users need to enter "bunker mode" before AI or quantum computing technologies expose wallet private keys, custody institutions face a more complex challenge: how to upgrade key management, approval, and audit systems before an emergency migration occurs.

Project Eleven CEO Alex Pruden stated that institutions have already begun preparing for post-quantum migration outside of blockchain, and different blockchains may adopt different quantum-resistant signature schemes and migration paths in the future. Institutions holding multiple types of assets will face the challenge of simultaneously adapting to multiple cryptographic systems.

Quantus co-founder and CEO Christopher Smith stated that AI is accelerating the development of quantum hardware and software, and the tail risk of quantum attacks should be incorporated into portfolio decisions — this is an institutional fiduciary duty.

Currently, the timeline for quantum computers to crack Bitcoin and Ethereum's existing public-key cryptographic systems remains uncertain, but the industry is gradually viewing the coming years as a window for establishing migration plans, rather than waiting for an attack to occur before responding reactively. OpenAI Discloses Two AI-Assisted Covert Influence Operations: Using AI to Create "Fake Identities" and Spread Content

Odaily reports that OpenAI has released a report stating it recently banned two groups that used its models to conduct covert influence operations (IO). These operations combined AI with traditional techniques to create "fake front" entities and fake identities. OpenAI stated that the Russia-linked operation "Dark Clark" controlled a fake think tank called the "Social Research Center (SRC)," and is suspected of using ChatGPT to write internal reports, generate content, and conduct influence activities in Latin America. OpenAI assessed this operation as Level 5 on the IO Breakout Scale, marking the first time it has identified a case reaching this level since it began disclosing such operations.

OpenAI stated that AI has not changed the fundamental patterns of these influence operations, but has enhanced their scale, efficiency, language capabilities, and content production capacity, making it easier for attackers to create fake identities, fabricate content, and disseminate information to real media channels.

Cardano Foundation Spins Off Digital Identity Project Veridian as Independent Company

Odaily News: The Cardano Foundation has announced the spin-off of its digital identity project Veridian into an independent company, with its shares tokenized based on CIP-0113, a newly launched programmable token standard on the Cardano blockchain.

It is reported that Veridian becomes the first company to adopt Cardano's programmable token standard for equity tokenization. Frederik Gregaard, CEO of the Cardano Foundation and Chairman of Veridian, stated that the company has issued a total of 1 million shares, with the majority already tokenized. However, these tokenized shares are not currently available for public sale.

Headquartered in Switzerland, Veridian aims to provide digital identity verification tools for governments, enterprises, and AI agents, helping users prove their identity and verify online behavior. The company is led by Thomas A. Mayfield, a blockchain engineer who previously oversaw decentralized trust and identity solutions at the Cardano Foundation, and plans to seek strategic investors in 2027. (CoinDesk)

Pyth DAO Approves "100% Rule": All Future Product Revenue to Be Used for Open Market PYTH Buybacks

Odaily reports that oracle network Pyth Network has released its Q3 business report, stating that as of the end of September, its active annual recurring revenue (ARR) reached $11.49 million, up 86.5% from the previous quarter, with net new ARR of $5.33 million in Q3.

On the exchange side, the trading volume of real-world asset (RWA) perpetual contract markets powered by Pyth data reached $2.09 trillion in Q3, accounting for 94.1% of the total volume in related markets. In prediction markets, Pyth has provided data support for platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket. Among them, Kalshi listed Pyth as the data source provider for its gold and silver perpetual contract markets in relevant regulatory filings. In the AI sector, Pyth is testing financial data infrastructure for AI agents with Exa, providing real-time prices, historical data, and candlestick data to enable AI systems to incorporate market information into analysis and decision-making.

Additionally, Pyth DAO approved the "100% Rule," under which all future revenue the DAO receives from Pyth products will be used for open market buybacks of PYTH tokens. Compared to the previous practice of using only one-third of non-PYTH asset balances for buybacks, the allocation ratio has been increased threefold.

Analysis: The AI Agent Era May Drive a Revaluation of Blockchain, as Traditional Finance and the Crypto World Converge

Odaily reports that Citrini Research has stated that the barriers between traditional finance and the crypto industry are gradually dissolving, and with the proliferation of AI Agents, blockchain may be approaching a true inflection point for adoption.

Citrini Research suggests that in the future, personal AI agents may be able to manage all of a user's financial assets, including allocating idle funds, executing investment decisions, and finding loan solutions. However, the existing financial system is built on manual processes, intermediaries, and compliance frameworks, making it difficult to adapt to round-the-clock, automated machine interaction needs.

The firm believes that AI agents require financial infrastructure that is programmable, operates in real time, and requires no human intervention. After more than a decade of development, blockchain happens to possess characteristics such as asset digitization, on-chain settlement, and open financial applications. Previously, the crypto industry faced issues such as a complex user experience and a lack of real asset applications, but with the advancement of real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, traditional financial assets are gradually moving on-chain.

Citrini Research points out that the development of tokenized equities, U.S. Treasuries, credit, and other assets, along with changes in the regulatory environment, is driving the convergence of traditional finance and crypto markets. The firm notes that recent developments — including Robinhood launching stock tokens, regulators exploring rules for tokenized assets, and on-chain markets such as Hyperliquid gaining attention from traditional finance — all indicate that the market is undergoing a shift.

Citrini Research states that investors should focus not merely on whether assets will be tokenized, but rather on "who can capture the economic value in the tokenization wave." The firm believes that blockchain may ultimately become critical financial infrastructure in the AI agent era.

Japan's Ministry of Finance Proposes Three Types of Government Bond On-Chain Solutions

Odaily reports that Japan's Ministry of Finance today held the first meeting of its "Government Bond On-Chain Research Group" and released explanatory materials, tentatively categorizing government bond on-chaining into three types:

Type 1 involves circulating investment trust government bond fund (MMF) beneficiary rights on the blockchain; Type 2 involves putting transfer ledgers on-chain under the current transfer settlement system, including three forms: a single account management institution, multi-institution collaboration, and integration with the Bank of Japan's ledger; Type 3 involves issuing new forms of government bonds on a blockchain outside the current system.

Japan's Ministry of Finance believes that government bond on-chaining can improve collateral and liquidity management efficiency and expand the investor base, particularly benefiting overseas investors, but there are also challenges such as market fragmentation, transmission of severe price fluctuations, and system renovation costs. All three types are currently tentative classifications, and the Ministry of Finance plans to compile a report by January 2027.

Fidelity: Institutions Have No Way Back on the Path to a Tokenized On-Chain Future

Odaily News — Matthew Horne, Head of Digital Asset Strategy at asset management firm Fidelity Investments, said that over the past 18 months, real institutions have continued to advance toward a tokenized on-chain future, and there is "no way back." He noted that tokenization can provide structural advantages for financial institutions and help asset managers reach new markets.

Horne said U.S. asset management institutions in particular are incentivized to move assets on-chain, as tokenization can improve how investors access assets and help institutions reach new markets. Over the past 30 days, demand for tokenized assets grew 41%, with the number of holders exceeding 493,000.

Ka Yan Chan, Head of Digital Asset Business Development at UBS Group, said that core assets such as U.S. Treasuries and equities could drive billions of dollars on-chain. She noted that if market infrastructure institutions such as the Federal Reserve or the DTCC take the lead in transforming the custody layer into a tokenized platform, on-chain capital could expand from billions of dollars to trillions of dollars.

The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) issued a "no-action" letter in December 2025 to a subsidiary of the Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation (DTCC), allowing it to provide tokenization services for securities markets. Over the past 30 days, more than $1.2 billion in funds has moved on-chain, with stablecoins and tokenized assets combined exceeding $323 billion. (Cointelegraph)
