Odaily News: The UK High Court has issued a significant ruling regarding a cross-border asset recovery dispute involving over 61,000 bitcoins linked to the illegal fundraising case of Tianjin Blue Sky Gerui in China. On October 12 local time, a judgment obtained by Caixin from the UK High Court shows that the court determined that property rights claims raised by Chinese investors over the bitcoins in question should be governed by Chinese law rather than English law. This means that approximately 16,000 Chinese victims who have participated in the UK recovery proceedings may be unable to share in the massive appreciation gains from the surge in bitcoin prices through English law, and may at most only recover their principal and interest. Odaily News: Federal Reserve's Hammack stated that interest rates need to be raised, preferring smaller and more frequent rate hikes; current policy is not yet restrictive enough. (Jinshi)
According to Odaily, Yilihua posted on X platform: "I remain bearish on the correction. Although there have been rebounds during the decline over the past few days, with the U.S. stock market falling and oil prices rising, Bitcoin has broken below the mid-line on the 4-hour chart, which is the 20-day moving average. Currently, Bitcoin is in a broad decline across all timeframes except the weekly, including the 15-minute, 1-hour, 4-hour, and daily charts. As I said before, the correction is far from over. Be patient and don't think about trading all the time. Honestly, when watching the pullback to 86, with multiple oscillations attempting to break through the strong resistance at 87, I was worried and anxious inside. During the correction, the rally briefly broke through the key level at 84, and the same feeling arose. But in trading, as long as you keep an open mindset—missing out is far better than making a mistake—you will stick to your principles and forget the illusions."
Odaily News — Crypto analyst Darkfost stated that Bitcoin's Long-Term Holder (LTH) SOPR (Spent Output Profit Ratio) has climbed back above its annual average of 1.10 and continues to hold above that level.
Data shows that long-term holders have realized an average return of approximately 10% over the past year. Currently, the weekly average LTH SOPR stands at 1.25, and the monthly average at 1.16, both above the annual average, indicating that long-term holders are returning to a profitable state.
Darkfost noted that a similar situation also appeared at the end of the previous bear market, when the return of profits for long-term holders became one of the signals of improving market conditions. He believes that the emergence of moderate profits in the market is generally a positive factor, helping to raise investors' expectations for future market conditions.
Odaily News: Prediction market conference NEXTPredict has paid a $12,000 premium to hedge approximately $3 million in conference investment through prediction market platform Kalshi. If the cancellation rate of flights to New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport on October 21 exceeds 50%, the related contract will pay out approximately $3 million.
The trade is market-made by financial institution Susquehanna, with the settlement date falling on the main travel day before NEXTPredict's summit at Convene in Hudson Yards, New York, on October 22-23. Pierre Lindh stated that this is the first time the events industry has hedged a conference through prediction markets.
Kalshi self-certified the flight cancellation contract with the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) on July 14 and customized the market for institutional clients; retail investors cannot participate. Flight disruptions caused by specific reasons such as drone incidents or bomb threats do not trigger payouts. (Decrypt)
Odaily reports: Goldman Sachs stated that U.S. companies are expected to return a record $1.7 trillion to shareholders through stock buybacks by 2027, which could shield market valuations from dilution caused by equity issuance near historic highs. The investment bank expects the supply of publicly traded shares to rise significantly next year. While such increases typically weigh on stock prices, Goldman Sachs added that corporate buybacks, combined with strong demand from households and foreign investors, should be sufficient to absorb the additional shares. Odaily reports that predict.fun posted on X that the probability of Anthropic conducting an initial public offering before 2027 dropped from 85% to 69% within a week, indicating weakened market confidence.

Odaily reports: Tom Lee, Chairman of Ethereum treasury company Bitmine Immersion Technologies, stated that the intergenerational wealth transfer occurring over the coming years could become a significant factor driving demand in the next round of the crypto market.
Citing data from the IRS and Fundstrat research, Lee noted that between 2026 and 2028, approximately $1.5 trillion to $2 trillion in wealth is expected to be transferred between generations. Since younger investors inheriting this wealth typically have a higher risk appetite, they may increase allocations to risk assets such as crypto assets and equities. Additionally, Wall Street's accelerating adoption of blockchain technology for asset tokenization, the development of AI applications, and treasury companies that hold crypto assets long-term could also become drivers of future market growth.
Meanwhile, Bitmine released its latest treasury data, showing it purchased an additional 12,532 ETH last week, worth approximately $32 million, bringing its total ETH holdings to 6,028,946, or about 4.9% of Ethereum's total supply. The company is still approximately 76,000 ETH short of its previously set target of holding 5% of ETH's supply. Based on its recent accumulation pace, the company is expected to reach this target within the coming weeks. Tom Lee previously stated that Bitmine will stop accumulating ETH once it reaches the 5% target. Currently, Bitmine has staked approximately 5.07 million ETH, accounting for about 84% of its holdings. Based on current yield rates, this is expected to generate approximately $336 million in annualized staking revenue. (CoinDesk)
Odaily reports: Bitcoin News posted on X that Strive's SATA preferred stock raised an estimated $55 million during the week of October 5, enough at last week's prices to purchase approximately 638 bitcoins. As of October 2, the company held 29,462 BTC. From September 28 to October 4, Strategy did not sell any STRC shares. An 8-K filing submitted on Monday will reveal whether this SATA cash was actually converted into Bitcoin.
Odaily News: Venture investor Alex Lazarow wrote that over the past two years, Stripe, Mastercard, and Circle respectively acquired U.S. stablecoin infrastructure company Bridge, UK stablecoin infrastructure company BVNK, and Singapore-based cross-border payment platform Tazapay, with the three deals totaling over $3 billion in value. Stripe announced in 2024 that it would acquire Bridge for slightly more than $1 billion; Mastercard's acquisition of BVNK was valued at up to $1.8 billion, including $1.5 billion in base consideration and $300 million in contingent consideration; Circle agreed to acquire Tazapay for $400 million in stock, with the deal expected to close in 2027. Bridge, BVNK, and Tazapay were founded between 2020 and 2022 and had raised approximately $200 million in cumulative funding. Growing stablecoin adoption, an increasingly clear regulatory framework, and rising demand for real-time cross-border payments are the main factors driving the related M&A activity. In 2025, stablecoin adjusted transaction volume grew 91% year-over-year to $10.9 trillion, approaching Visa's $14.2 trillion; real-world payment volume more than doubled to approximately $390 billion.
Odaily News: The National Bank of Kazakhstan is shifting from a major global gold buyer to a seller, planning to reduce gold's share of its foreign exchange reserves from the current approximately 78% to 75% by the end of this year. Persistently rising US Treasury yields are prompting the country to reassess the allocation ratio between gold and dollar assets. Kazakhstan's adjustment of its reserve structure comes as the trend of global central banks continuously increasing their gold holdings over the past few years has not yet fully reversed. According to World Gold Council data, in the first eight months of 2026, the National Bank of Kazakhstan was the world's fourth-largest gold buyer, while Poland, China, and Uzbekistan were the main buyers during the same period.
After the US-Iran war broke out at the end of February this year, energy supplies were disrupted and import costs rose, leading to increased market demand for the US dollar. Countries such as Turkey and Russia had already sold some of their gold earlier this year, showing that central banks' gold holdings do not only increase but can also be affected by liquidity needs and asset allocation objectives.
Odaily reports: Trader Killa stated that Bitcoin bulls need to step in at the current range, otherwise BTC could face the risk of falling below $80,000 and undergoing further correction.
Killa noted that BTC had previously broken above the upper boundary of its trading range and is now retesting whether that range structure remains valid. If the price falls back below the range and fails to reclaim it, it could signal that the prior breakout has failed and that the market structure is being compromised. The market has already experienced approximately $2 billion in liquidations, so there is no need to sweep lows again to seek liquidity. If another sharp decline occurs, it would instead reflect market weakness rather than a healthy correction.
The current area around $80,000 is a key zone for BTC to continue its upward momentum, and bulls need to demonstrate buying support. If buying interest is insufficient, the recent defense of the $80,000 support may merely serve to attract funds into the range, after which the price could pull back toward the $76,000 to $78,000 area.
Odaily reports: According to SoSoValue data, as of 8:00 AM ET on October 12, 2026, the total net weekly purchases of Bitcoin by global listed companies (excluding mining companies) last week amounted to $22.5 million, a decrease of 90.6% compared to two weeks ago.
Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy) bought 250 BTC last week at a price of $86,194, spending approximately $22 million, bringing its total holdings to 848,250 BTC.
Japanese listed company Metaplanet did not purchase any Bitcoin last week.
In addition, two other companies announced Bitcoin purchases or Bitcoin holdings last week. Bitcoin reserve and frontier AI investment company Bitcoin Japan announced on October 7 that it purchased 5.8847 BTC at a price of $84,706.34, bringing its total holdings to 17.8035 BTC. Ethereum asset company Bitmine announced after 8:00 AM ET on October 5 that it purchased 1 BTC, without disclosing the specific purchase amount, bringing its total holdings to 214 BTC.
As of press time, the global listed companies included in the statistics (excluding mining companies) collectively hold a total of 1,163,359 BTC, an increase of 0.3% compared to two weeks ago. The current market value is approximately $96.57 billion, accounting for 5.8% of Bitcoin's circulating market cap.
Odaily News: Bitwise Chief Investment Officer Matt Hougan recently suggested in an interview that Bitcoin's market cap could climb to $30 trillion over the next decade, following a trajectory similar to the long-term expansion seen after the launch of gold ETFs.
He compared two points in time: when gold ETFs debuted in 2004, the gold market was worth about $2.5 trillion; when spot Bitcoin ETFs listed in 2024, Bitcoin's market cap was around $2 trillion. Hougan believes Bitcoin's long-term upside remains substantial, and the real risk lies not at the protocol level, nor in quantum computing, but in whether investors can endure multiple bull and bear cycles and keep holding.
