Analysis: If Democrats Win the U.S. Midterm Elections, Wall Street and the Crypto Industry May Face More Regulatory Scrutiny

Odaily News: If Democrats win a majority in the House or Senate in the U.S. midterm elections, while it may not necessarily prevent the Trump administration from advancing deregulatory policies for Wall Street banks, prediction markets, and the crypto industry, it would gain stronger investigative and oversight tools.

If Democrats control either chamber of Congress, they would have subpoena power, larger investigative teams, and the authority to compel government officials and corporate executives to appear at hearings. Wall Street financial institutions, crypto companies, and related regulatory agencies could face more scrutiny. It is reported that crypto industry figures are particularly watching whether Representative Sean Casten may wield greater influence after Democrats regain control of the House Financial Services Committee. Casten has previously pushed to strengthen crypto regulation and opposed the industry-backed CLARITY Act. (Reuters)

Nobel Prize Sounds Alarm for the Fed? Warsh's Communication Cuts Face Theoretical Challenge

Odaily News: The 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics has turned the spotlight on a question that is undergoing change within the Federal Reserve: should the central bank continue to explain its policy logic to the market and signal the future direction of interest rates in advance?

Bloomberg columnist Jonathan Levin noted in a commentary published on Tuesday that the research of this year's Nobel laureate in economics, Michael Woodford, happens to pose a challenge to Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh's stance on forward guidance and policy transparency. Levin argues that Warsh tends to reduce the Fed's external communication, while Woodford's research shows that how a central bank explains its policy decisions is itself an important part of how monetary policy works.

The Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences on Monday awarded the 2026 Nobel Prize in Economics to American economists Robert E. Hall and Woodford, honoring their contributions to the theory of economic stability.

She also emphasized that she hopes UK businesses can develop successful sterling stablecoins, so that UK residents and businesses are not left with no option but to access innovative payment services through dollar stablecoins. ENS Proposal to Enable ENSv2, New .eth Registrations to Pause for Several Hours During Transition

Odaily reports that Nick Johnson, founder of the Ethereum Name Service protocol ENS, has submitted an executable draft proposal requesting that the decentralized autonomous organization (DAO) approve the activation of ENSv2 on the Ethereum mainnet. Once the upgrade is approved, the original ENS registrar will pause new domain registrations, while existing domain holders will still be able to renew.

ENSv2 will introduce a more flexible domain management and permissions architecture. After domain record synchronization is complete, new .eth registrations will migrate to the upgraded system, and new registrations on both systems may be paused for several hours during the transition; existing holders will not need to migrate, and their domains will remain fully functional. ENS Labs plans to transfer the remaining administrative permissions of the upgraded contracts to the DAO.

The proposal is currently still in draft stage and needs to enter the on-chain DAO voting process. According to governance rules, an executable proposal must secure at least 1 million ENS tokens participating and a majority of support within a 7-day voting period. After approval, it must also undergo a timelock of at least two days. The voting date has not yet been announced. (Cointelegraph)
