Odaily News: LayerZero Labs, in collaboration with the a16z Crypto research team, Carnegie Mellon University, and Imperial College London, has released new research findings on Aerie, aimed at improving the aggregation efficiency of post-quantum cryptographic signatures.
According to the introduction, Aerie is built upon the previously launched lattice-based polynomial commitment scheme Akita. On a MacBook Pro equipped with an Apple M4 Max chip, using 16 CPU cores without GPU acceleration, it can aggregate 32,768 Falcon-512 signatures in 0.65 seconds, with peak memory usage of approximately 2.1 GiB.
LayerZero stated that compared to the previous Orthus scheme, Aerie achieves approximately 1.5x faster proof generation, 38x faster verification, and approximately 1.7x smaller proof size. Additionally, Aerie supports aggregation of ML-DSA signatures standardized by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), with specific performance data to be released later.
This research aims to provide a technical pathway for blockchain to achieve low-latency, post-quantum secure consensus without requiring specialized hardware.
Odaily News — Cross-chain swap protocol NEAR Intents has released a post-mortem report on a vulnerability incident, disclosing that a prior incident involving the extraction of $3.8 million in assets stemmed from a flaw in the deposit notification function. The attacker created a smart contract designed to deliberately cause notification failures, allowing deposited tokens to be returned while the protocol's internal ledger still recorded the corresponding balances.
The report shows that the attacker accumulated $3.8 million in fake balances with no actual asset backing through 23 failed deposit transactions, and withdrew real tokens between September 29 and October 1, transferring them to other blockchains via Omni infrastructure. NEAR Intents General Manager Alex Shevchenko emphasized that the vulnerability existed in the NEAR Intents contract, not in the Omni infrastructure.
NEAR Intents stated that the attacker returned all funds within 36 hours after the vulnerability was discovered, and all affected users have been fully compensated. The team has improved its balance monitoring mechanisms and completely removed the vulnerable function on October 7. Additionally, another security researcher who discovered a related critical vulnerability received a $300,000 reward.
Odaily reports that Coinbase posted on X platform that transfer protection settings can add an extra layer of security for sends and withdrawals. Users can enable this setting to protect their accounts.

Odaily News: Former Mt. Gox CEO Mark Karpelès stated that hardware wallet manufacturer Ledger received warnings about possible tampering with its hardware wallets as early as December 2025, but did not take sufficient measures to alert customers before the recent security incident occurred.
Karpelès believes that Ledger should have disclosed the relevant risks to users earlier and strengthened security warnings. Currently, the above claims are Karpelès's personal allegations, and it cannot yet be confirmed on this basis that Ledger devices have a large-scale security vulnerability. (Cointelegraph)
Odaily report: According to MSX.COM data, Strategy (MSTR) extended its decline to 6.46%, now trading at $141.5.
On the news front, MSCI plans to screen out companies whose asset structures are closer to investment funds rather than traditional operating businesses, based on the proportion of operating assets and various financial indicators. As Strategy holds a large amount of Bitcoin, it has been listed as a potential candidate for index removal, with the final affected list expected to be announced on November 11.
The market is concerned that if Strategy is removed from MSCI-related indices, passive funds tracking the indices may be forced to reduce their MSTR holdings, with potential selling pressure reaching billions of dollars, which could impact the company's strategy of continuously accumulating Bitcoin through equity financing.
