Over $6 Billion Binance Virtual Asset Theft Case, FBI Says North Korea Responsible
Odaily Report: The FBI has announced that North Korea is responsible for the theft of over $6 billion in virtual assets from Binance around October 29, and has labeled the related malicious cyber activity as "TraderTraitor." The FBI stated that it, along with the U.S. Secret Service (USSS) and the Internal Revenue Service Criminal Investigation Division (IRS-CI), observed that the attackers primarily converted the stolen assets into ETH and are expected to launder the funds through DeFi and instant exchange services. The FBI called on THORChain node operators, RPC node operators, instant exchange platforms, DeFi services, and blockchain analytics firms to block transactions with the relevant addresses, and published hundreds of related ETH, BTC, and SOL addresses. Previously, Trump had stated that an investigation was underway into whether North Korea was behind the incident.
