Odaily News: Bitget Greater China Head Xie Jiayin recently addressed community concerns directly during a livestream. He recalled that over the eight years since Bitget's founding, the platform has always placed the highest priority on user asset security, successfully withstood multiple attempted cyberattacks, and maintained a long-term record of secure operations. This incident marks the first security crisis in the platform's eight-year history.
Following a complete traceback, this incident was identified as a targeted attack on a third-party security software supply chain. The attackers exploited a vulnerability in a third-party product to obtain internal network credentials, but private keys were not compromised and cold wallet assets were completely unaffected. Bitget has now partnered with security firms Mandiant and SlowMist to conduct an independent review, and will comprehensively upgrade its standards for monitoring and managing third-party components. We are not only committed to achieving a full recovery following this incident, but will also contribute to a safer, more stable, and healthier development of the industry through continuous technological iteration and systemic upgrades.

This campaign enriches Gate's stablecoin wealth management offerings, providing users with different capital sizes and trading needs more flexible yield options.
Odaily reports that according to monitoring by Xie Jiayin, in this incident, the attacker exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product to steal Bitget's internal network access credentials, forged withdrawal instructions to the wallet system, causing the wallet to execute abnormal transfers that passed risk verification, ultimately completing the attack. The attacker did not use common viruses or malicious programs, but instead relied on real identities and routine operations and maintenance activities for disguise and to erase traces. After the incident occurred, Bitget has completely ruled out the possibility of private key leakage and insider involvement.
Odaily News: According to on-chain analyst Ai Yi's monitoring, Bitget's BTC withdrawal portal has been opened. A total of 5,500 BTC from the protection fund has been transferred to Bitget's hot wallet in batches to meet withdrawal demand, of which 2,042.28 BTC, approximately $169 million, has completed the transfer, with 3,457.72 BTC remaining on-chain. This portion of funds was transferred in advance and does not equate to the actual withdrawal amount. GracyBitget and xiejiayinBitget have committed to continuously replenishing the fund to the $300 million baseline within one week.
Odaily News: According to monitoring by Xie Jiajin, the previous attack incident involved multiple chains, rather than a single asset or a single network. Bitget suspended withdrawals before completing the investigation and verification of all steps to avoid exposing users to risk. Withdrawals will only resume in phases by chain and by asset after each chain has completed repairs and security verification. Xie Jiajin stated that the suspension of withdrawals has nothing to do with whether Bitget has sufficient funds; Bitget's protection fund stands at $464 million, which can fully cover the losses from this attack incident, and its proof of reserves is 127%, which has already been made public.
Odaily reports that Bitget has opened its phased withdrawal function as scheduled, with BTC withdrawal services now available.
According to the previously announced timeline, ETH-related networks will open for withdrawals on September 29 at 16:00 (UTC+8), and USDT-related networks will open for withdrawals on September 30 at 16:00 (UTC+8); withdrawals for other tokens, as well as fiat and C2C services, will gradually resume starting from October 2 at 16:00 (UTC+8).

Odaily News: In today's community livestream, Bitget CEO Gracy responded to the recent security incident and the platform's financial condition. She candidly stated that this was the first security incident Bitget has encountered in its 8 years of operation. After a complete traceback, it was determined that hackers exploited a vulnerability in a third-party security product to steal internal network access credentials, forged withdrawal commands to the wallet system, and deceived the wallet into executing abnormal transfers that bypassed risk checks. Gracy emphasized that in this incident, private keys were not leaked and cold wallets were not affected. Specific technical details will be disclosed in detail in the official security report to be released.
Gracy pointed out that the verified losses from this incident fall within the coverage of the protection fund, and user funds remain safe. The platform's own funds exceed $1.4 billion, including approximately $464 million in the user protection fund. The platform will continue to honor the security commitment made when the protection fund was established in 2022, and plans to replenish the fund to the $300 million baseline within a week.
"The protection fund is not just a slogan, but an important mechanism that provides tangible protection for users when extreme security incidents occur." Gracy stated that in the face of sudden security challenges, the platform's comprehensive strength and its ability to proactively take responsibility are important standards for measuring its risk response capabilities and long-term credibility. Bitget will continue to uphold its long-term commitment to prioritizing user interests.
