Block time reduced to 25 seconds, Zcash NU7 mainnet upgrade activated

Odaily – Zcash's ninth network upgrade, NU7, has been activated at mainnet block 3,543,405. The target block time has been shortened from 75 seconds to 25 seconds, and the per-block subsidy has been reduced to one-third of its previous level, while the four-year halving cycle and the 21 million supply cap remain unchanged. The upgrade introduces a network sustainability mechanism under which 60% of transaction fees will be allocated to a reserve, with miners retaining 40%; reserve re-issuance is scheduled to begin in February 2031.
