With the necessary tax information conditions in place, South Korea says it can tax investors using U.S. exchanges after 2029

Odaily reports: South Korean Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Lee Hyung-il said on the same day that the government has decided to postpone the collection of virtual asset income tax by two years, to 2029. Lee Hyung-il stated that if virtual asset transaction information can be obtained from the United States after 2029, the government will have sufficient information to tax investors using U.S. exchanges. The government will also establish and operate a public-private joint working group on digital asset taxation to advance the rationalization of the tax system and the expansion of infrastructure, and to accelerate the legislation of the Digital Asset Act.
