Or a fourth postponement: South Korea's cryptocurrency income tax, originally scheduled for implementation in 2027, faces delay

Odaily reports that the South Korean Presidential Office (Blue House) favors postponing once again the virtual asset income tax originally scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2027; if implemented, this would be the fourth postponement of the tax. A Blue House official stated that the relevant taxation will be advanced in the direction of postponement during party-government consultations; the Blue House said in a written response that the matter is still under review and no decision has been made. Park Min-kyu, a lawmaker from the ruling Democratic Party, has proposed an amendment to postpone the taxation until 2029, and the opposition People Power Party also supports the delay. The current plan would tax income from the transfer and lending of virtual assets at a rate of 22% after deducting a basic exemption of 2.5 million won.
