Loss of approximately $287,000: Rocket blockchain attacked, deposits, withdrawals, and trading suspended
Odaily News: Rocket reported that a chain-based attack occurred on September 5, resulting in a loss of approximately $287,000 in funds. The attacker exploited a dormant perpetual market on Rocket, using a one-time account to place artificially inflated price orders and trade against themselves, generating fictitious profits on the account while causing the one-time account to become insolvent. The attacker then withdrew approximately $287,000 in profits from the Bridge. Currently, all deposits, withdrawals, and trading have been suspended. The team is cooperating with security firms and law enforcement agencies, and coordinating with exchanges, cross-chain bridges, and stablecoin issuers to track and freeze the stolen funds. Officials stated that a recovery plan is being developed, prioritizing refunds to small-amount accounts, with specific details to be announced as soon as possible.
