BlackRock: After Employment Data Exceeded Expectations, the Importance of CPI Has Become More Prominent
Odaily Planet Daily News BlackRock Portfolio Manager Jeff Rosenberg stated that the U.S. August employment growth significantly exceeded expectations, highlighting the importance of the Consumer Price Index (CPI) data to be released next week. Federal Reserve policymakers are considering whether to raise interest rates based on this data. He said, "This somewhat confirms what we know about the labor market and shifts the focus and pressure back to the inflation issue. The key is whether inflation is rising or whether it is not declining fast enough, which will determine whether the Fed raises rates at the September meeting."
Jeff Rosenberg stated that if the CPI report released on September 11 continues to show improving inflation, "I believe they will keep rates unchanged." (CLS)
