Odaily News – A South Korean government official said on Friday that South Korea and the United States are discussing Korean companies' semiconductor investment in the U.S. within a broader framework of bilateral consultations. When asked whether the chip tariff plan previously disclosed by U.S. Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick is affecting the ongoing investment negotiations between the two countries, the official stated: "There are various issues between South Korea and the U.S., and sometimes these issues affect one another."
The official added that semiconductor investment is one of the investment-related topics under discussion between the two sides. "We are working to prevent these issues from hindering each other." (Jin Shi)
