The United States is preparing for face-to-face talks with Iran, and Vance may attend

2026-04-07 23:57

Odaily News U.S. officials stated that the Trump administration is preparing for face-to-face negotiations between U.S. and Iranian officials in the coming days. Both sides will work towards reaching a long-term agreement to end the war between Washington and Tehran. White House Press Secretary Levitt said, "The possibility of holding face-to-face talks is currently under discussion, but nothing is finalized until the President or the White House makes an official announcement." Officials indicated that the talks are likely to take place in Islamabad, with Pakistan attending as a mediator. They added that given the two-week ceasefire announced tonight by the United States and Iran, the likelihood of the talks taking place is increasing. According to officials, Trump's special envoy Witkof, son-in-law Kushner, and Vice President Vance are expected to attend. Vance is currently visiting Hungary, and sources said he might add a stop to his itinerary if the timing is appropriate. (CNN)
