Odaily News The number of ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz and the intensity of their signals are slowly increasing, although Iran still maintains an effective blockade against most unauthorized commercial vessels. According to tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, as of Monday, the weekly average number of two-way transiting ships has risen to seven, up from five the previous week. Although this is still far below normal traffic levels, the increase indicates that a small, selective fleet—primarily from non-hostile Asian countries—continues to pass through the port. By allowing friendly vessels while restricting Western ones, Iran's blockade tactics have evolved into a powerful tool of economic warfare. (Jin10)
