Qubic responds to Monero 51% attack: experiment proceeds as planned
4hours ago
Odaily Planet Daily reports that Qubic responded to a 51% attack on Monero (XMR) on social media, stating that its Monero experiment is progressing as planned and that details will be released in due course. Previously, it was reported that the Qubic project, initiated by IOTA co-founder Sergey Ivancheglo, used the "Usable Proof of Work" (uPoW) mechanism to rapidly accumulate Monero hashrate, at one point controlling 52.72% of the network hash rate (approximately 3.01 GH/s), potentially capable of rejecting blocks from other mining pools, triggering chain reorganizations, and double-spending. The Monero community has launched a boycott and defense, and Qubic claims the move was a technical demonstration, not a malicious attack.
