According to Odaily Planet Daily, Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino posted on the X platform that he has collected 1,000 signatures in a petition to the Lugano City Council, Switzerland, seeking to restore the Satoshi Nakamoto statue that was previously thrown into a lake. The statue was stolen and thrown into a lake in Lugano, Switzerland on August 3rd. The Lugano City Council has since salvaged it.
On October 25, 2024, the city of Lugano, Switzerland, unveiled a statue commemorating Satoshi Nakamoto, the anonymous creator of Bitcoin, in Villa Ciani Park. The event was hosted by the Plan B initiative, a collaboration between Tether and the city of Lugano. Designed by Italian artist Valentina Picozzi, the statue took 18 months of research and three months to construct.
