According to a report by Iran's Tasnim News Agency, Iranian military spokesperson Alirakbarinia stated on Sunday that, based on the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, the responsibility for maritime traffic management in the Strait of Hormuz rests with Iran.

He stated that the U.S. attempt to impose an unauthorized shipping lane in the southern Strait of Hormuz violates its commitments under the Islamabad MoU. He noted that Washington has a long history of failing to fulfill its international obligations, and the same problem exists in the current understanding reached between the U.S. and Iran.

Alirakbarinia added that Iran is adopting a peaceful and cooperative approach by working with Oman to formulate joint navigation arrangements for the strategic waterway. He stated that U.S. interference undermines regional security and urged Washington to adhere to the MoU, respect regional stability, and take into account the interests of regional countries.

Akbarinia also warned that every time the U.S. attacked Iranian islands, coastal areas, or facilities, it received a decisive response, and the American operation on Saturday night was immediately retaliated against. He further stated that Iran's armed forces have continuously strengthened their combat readiness before and after the ceasefire, using the ceasefire period to enhance military capabilities while constantly updating operational plans to deal with various situations.
