U.S. stock index futures rebounded, market focuses on midterm elections and tech giant earnings
Odaily News: According to MSX.COM data, U.S. stock index futures rose on Monday, with tech stocks and AI-related stocks stabilizing after a dismal October performance, while investors shifted their attention to the U.S. midterm elections and a new round of intensive corporate earnings releases. The tech-heavy Nasdaq 100 index shed more than $2.5 trillion in market value last month and was once on the brink of entering technical correction territory.
Investors are concerned about large tech companies' increasing AI spending and are waiting for evidence that these investments will bring higher returns. Recently, several companies have also raised funds for these investments by issuing bonds, further intensifying market concerns about debt-financed spending. As borrowing costs rise, the justification for such spending may become increasingly difficult to prove. Seth Meyer, head of global client portfolio management at Janus Henderson Investors, said: "Midterm elections are usually unfavorable for the ruling party. If Democrats win the House, the U.S. will return to a divided government, but this situation is not uncommon."
