  • Key Takeaways: The crypto market saw broad gains over the past week, but performance diverged significantly. Assets leading the rally were primarily driven by Meme coins and strong narratives (Bitcoin ecosystem, Robinhood Chain, Trump-related concepts), while fundamental-driven sectors (lending, restaking, RWA) showed steady gains. A few tokens bucked the trend and declined due to cooling narratives or selling pressure.
  • Key Elements:
    1. STX led the weekly gains with a 121.2% surge, serving as the core proxy for the Bitcoin Layer 2 narrative, with a market cap of approximately $484 million.
    2. Tokens with gains exceeding 50% were dominated by Meme coins, including CASHCAT (+102.2%), PENGU (+59.3%), and TRUMP (+59.3%), reflecting concentrated market sentiment.
    3. The second tier (gains of 10%-20%) was mainly composed of infrastructure tokens such as LDO (+20.7%), WLD (+20.2%), NEAR (+18.4%), and BNB (+15.8%), indicating sustained capital accumulation in utility-focused sectors.
    4. ZEC (privacy coin) rose 53.6% weekly, reaching a market cap of $13.23 billion, signaling a revival of the privacy narrative.
    5. Among the decliners, LAB saw the largest drop (-13%), triggered by a trust crisis stemming from public offering unlock selling pressure and insider transfers.
    6. JTO, WLFI, and JELLYJELLY fell 5.2%, 5.1%, and 3.5% respectively, primarily due to cooling narratives and capital outflows.

Over the past week, the crypto market has continued its broad rally, with both major assets and small-to-mid-cap tokens closing in the green and sentiment visibly warming. However, a "broad rally" doesn't mean everything rises equally—within this same market wave, some tokens doubled in a week on the back of narratives and capital inflows, others steadily followed the broader market, and a select few defied the trend and fell, sold off by capital exiting positions.

Odaily Planet Daily has selected representative tokens with the highest gains and those bucking the trend from the weekly performance data of the top 100 tokens on CoinGecko, categorizing them into three tiers based on their performance.

Note: All data in this article is as of August 26.

Red List · Surging Tier: Weekly Gains Above 50%

This tier is almost entirely dominated by narrative-driven assets: Bitcoin ecosystem narratives, Meme sentiment, and exchange-affiliated tokens have taken turns pushing higher, with gains far exceeding the broader market.

STX (Stacks): A Bitcoin Layer 2 network that connects smart contract and DeFi capabilities to the Bitcoin mainnet through mechanisms like sBTC, making it one of the core assets in the "Bitcoin financialization" narrative. This week's price is $0.260143, with a market cap of approximately $484 million, and a weekly gain of 121.2%, making it the biggest dark horse on this week's gainers list. It is also the only non-Meme token among the top gainers.

CASHCAT (Cash Cat): The first breakout Meme coin born on Robinhood Chain (Robinhood's own Layer 2), borrowing the name "Cash Cat" from an early branding concept Robinhood never adopted, and quickly gaining traction through community narrative and platform traffic. This week's price is $0.191639, with a market cap of approximately $190 million, and a weekly gain of 102.2%.

ENA (Ethena): A synthetic dollar protocol that issues the stablecoin USDe through delta-neutral hedging strategies, and one of the leading projects in the on-chain "yield-bearing stablecoin" sector. This week's price is $0.144821, with a market cap of approximately $1.42 billion, and a weekly gain of 74.4%.

PENGU (Pudgy Penguins): A token derived from the well-known NFT collection Pudgy Penguins, converting IP and community culture into a tradeable asset, representing the "NFT-to-Meme" narrative. This week's price is $0.00961031, with a market cap of approximately $604 million, and a weekly gain of 59.3%.

TRUMP (Official Trump): An official Meme coin themed around U.S. President Donald Trump, whose price movements are highly dependent on political attention and related news exposure. This week's price is $2.23, with a market cap of approximately $559 million, and a weekly gain of 59.3%, tied with PENGU.

ZEC (Zcash): A veteran privacy coin that supports shielded transactions via zk-SNARKs technology, and one of the earliest public chain assets in the crypto industry to achieve "optional privacy." This week's price is $782.83, with a market cap of approximately $13.23 billion, and a weekly gain of 53.6%, regaining market attention as the privacy narrative warms up.

PUMP (Pump.fun): The token of Solana's largest Meme coin launchpad, which nearly monopolizes the first-listing traffic gateway for new tokens on Solana. This week's price is $0.0045554, with a market cap of approximately $1.77 billion, and a weekly gain of 53.3%.

MELANIA (Melania Meme): A "First Lady"-themed Meme coin launched around the same time as TRUMP, whose price action typically moves in tandem with TRUMP. This week's price is $0.105678, with a market cap of approximately $106 million, and a weekly gain of 51%.

PEPE: One of the leading Meme coins themed around the frog meme, consistently occupying a top position in the Meme sector by market cap and serving as a barometer of market sentiment. This week's price is approximately $0.00000385, with a market cap of approximately $1.62 billion, and a weekly gain of 49.3%.

2. Red List · Steady Followers Tier: Not Yet Rallied? Weekly Gains of 10%–20%

Compared to the narrative frenzy of the first tier, this group consists more of fundamental assets and infrastructure tokens. While the gains are less dramatic, they better reflect sustained capital accumulation in "utility-oriented" sectors.

Meanwhile, Ethereum-related project tokens are mostly in this tier, as are the older altcoins that tend to rotate every major market cycle.

LDO (Lido DAO): Ethereum's largest liquid staking protocol, with stETH serving as the de facto standard for on-chain liquid staking. This week's price is $0.367106, with a market cap of approximately $306 million, and a weekly gain of 20.7%.

WLD (Worldcoin): A "world identity" project co-founded by Sam Altman that uses iris scanning for on-chain identity verification, representing the AI-crypto convergence narrative. This week's price is $0.386805, with a market cap of approximately $1.40 billion, and a weekly gain of 20.2%.

MORPHO: A decentralized lending protocol that optimizes peer-to-peer matching on top of underlying lending pools like Aave and Compound to improve capital efficiency. This week's price is $2.51, with a market cap of approximately $1.65 billion, and a weekly gain of 19.2%.

LINEA: An Ethereum zkEVM Layer 2 launched by Consensys, focused on a scaling solution highly compatible with the Ethereum ecosystem. This week's price is $0.00248024, with a market cap of approximately $60.83 million, and a weekly gain of 19.1%.

NEAR (NEAR Protocol): A sharded Layer 1 public chain recently pivoting heavily toward the "on-chain AI" narrative, positioning itself as the execution layer for AI agents. This week's price is $1.88, with a market cap of approximately $2.46 billion, and a weekly gain of 18.4%.

HBAR (Hedera): A distributed ledger network based on Hashgraph consensus and governed by a council of enterprises, long positioned for enterprise-grade applications and compliance use cases. This week's price is $0.078384, with a market cap of approximately $3.44 billion, and a weekly gain of 17.4%.

ASTER: A perpetual futures DEX token backed by YZi Labs, featuring hidden orders, MEV resistance, and cross-chain trading, and positioned as one of Hyperliquid's main competitors. This week's price is $0.703226, with a market cap of approximately $1.90 billion, and a weekly gain of 16.9%.

ETHFI (Ether.fi): A liquid restaking protocol built on EigenLayer that allows users to earn yield while staking ETH while retaining liquidity. This week's price is $0.560096, with a market cap of approximately $570 million, and a weekly gain of 16.6%.

BNB: The native token of Binance, the world's largest centralized exchange, serving multiple purposes including trading fee discounts and ecosystem governance, and the highest-market-cap exchange token. This week's price is $696.84, with a market cap of approximately $92.81 billion, and a weekly gain of 15.8%.

ONDO: A protocol focused on tokenizing real-world assets (RWA), with core products including on-chain solutions for traditional financial assets like tokenized U.S. Treasuries. This week's price is $0.367517, with a market cap of approximately $1.79 billion, and a weekly gain of 13.2%.

3. Black List · Defying the Trend: Losers in a Broad Rally

Against the backdrop of a broadly strengthening market, a handful of tokens still declined due to cooling project-specific narratives or short-term capital outflows, and the underlying reasons are worth examining.

JELLYJELLY (Jelly-My-Jelly): A Solana Meme coin created by a Venmo co-founder, tied to the same-named video-sharing app JellyJelly, and widely known for being used in a manipulative trading operation against a Hyperliquid vault in early 2025. This week's price is $0.054237, with a market cap of approximately $54.23 million, and a weekly decline of 3.5%.

WLFI (World Liberty Financial): A token for a DeFi project associated with the Trump family, which previously gained significant attention due to its political connections. This week's price is $0.058213, with a market cap of approximately $1.85 billion, and a weekly decline of 5.1%.

JTO (Jito): The token of Solana's leading MEV infrastructure and liquid staking protocol; JitoSOL is one of the mainstream liquid staking credentials on Solana. This week's price is $0.521896, with a market cap of approximately $268 million, and a weekly decline of 5.2%.

LAB: A multi-chain trading terminal token integrating spot, limit, and perpetual trading entry points across Solana, Ethereum, and BNB Chain. The token previously surged several-fold in a short period due to low circulating supply; this decline is attributed to increased sell pressure after public sale unlocks and market trust concerns triggered by insider transfers. This week's price is $0.067195, with a market cap of approximately $52 million, and a weekly decline of 13%, making it the biggest loser this week.

Summary

Overall, the top of this week's gainers list is almost entirely dominated by Meme coins and strongly narrative-driven assets, with the speculative fervor clearly concentrated in hotspots like the Bitcoin ecosystem, Robinhood Chain, and Trump-family-affiliated tokens. Meanwhile, gains in the second tier are more driven by "fundamental" sectors such as lending, restaking, RWA, and enterprise-grade public chains—while the magnitude is less extreme than the top tier, the sustainability of these trends may be more noteworthy.
