Odaily: Hyperliquid News posted on X that the Hyperliquid Policy Center is calling on the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to exclude airdrops from the definition of securities.
Its specific arguments include: codifying into rule the position the SEC proposed in March 2026 that free airdrops do not constitute a "money investment" and therefore are not investment contracts; extending this rule to announced airdrops, including periodic or recurring distributions, provided that the network is already operational, eligibility is based on usage or contribution (trading, validating, providing liquidity, governance), and the airdrop is not a means of fundraising. The Hyperliquid Policy Center holds that investment requires tangible and identifiable consideration, and that airdrops are rewards rather than investments; claim processes such as connecting a wallet, signing, paying gas fees, completing KYC/AML, or accepting terms of service should not be deemed consideration. Additionally, the rule should apply retroactively to past airdrops or cover Hyperliquid's native airdrop.

Odaily reports: Market analyst Murphy posted on X that MSCI officially approved new rules on October 15 to exclude non-operating companies that do not meet standards from its global investable market indices. Strategy had already been placed on the proposed removal list in a prior simulated screening, with the final results to be announced on November 11 and effective on November 30. Related index funds hold approximately 13 million shares of MSTR, valued at nearly $1.8 billion, equivalent to 60% of its 30-day average daily trading volume.
Murphy stated that Strategy's core logic lies in driving growth in net Bitcoin per share through capital operations, and whether it can sustain this depends on market premiums and the extent of their contraction. MSTR's future performance depends on three variables: Bitcoin price, net Bitcoin per share, and mNAV; as of market close on October 16, its mNAV stood at 1.08x.

Affected by rising U.S. Treasury yields and the weak first-day performance of a data center company's listing, foreign investors reduced their holdings of South Korean stocks, and institutional investors, including pension funds, also joined the selling, placing significant pressure on the market. As of press time, foreign investors had net sold 636.7 billion won in South Korea's securities market. Institutional investors also net sold 467 billion won, of which financial investment institutions net sold 241.8 billion won and pension funds net sold 159 billion won. Individual investors and other legal entities net bought 838.8 billion won and 261.6 billion won, respectively, in an attempt to support the index and limit its further decline. Eugene Investment & Securities analyst Huh Jae-Hwan said: "This selloff shows indiscriminate characteristics, with almost all stocks falling. The market appears very fragile." Even battery manufacturers, which had led the rebound on Monday, have now pulled back. (Jinshi)

Odaily reports: Blockchain security research firm Asymmetric Research has disclosed that Solana's on-chain governance program svmgov previously had a vulnerability: when validators did not participate in voting, independent votes submitted in advance by their delegators might not be counted in the final results. The vulnerability was reported to the Solana Foundation on July 10 and was fixed on mainnet on August 3, earlier than the governance vote on August 24. Based on on-chain data calculations, Asymmetric Research estimates that if the vulnerability had not been fixed, the approval rate of the SGP-0002 proposal, which aims to accelerate the decline in SOL inflation, could have dropped from the actual 67.00% to 66.65%, below the 66.67% passage threshold. As tokenized assets, stablecoins, and institutional participation gradually enter mainstream finance, Aave is poised to become a decentralized collateral liquidity protocol connecting tokenized assets and financing. The report notes that Aave V4, Horizon, and GHO all point toward the intersection of collateral, liquidity, and financing; as tokenization expands from stablecoins to money market funds, private credit, treasuries, and eventually equities, collateral circulation may become one of the key use cases of tokenization.
