Around $16 million in ZEC in the Sprout privacy pool will become unusable due to the NU7 upgrade, with Zcash expected to activate the upgrade tomorrow morning
Odaily reports: According to Zcash monitoring, Zcash plans to activate the NU7 network upgrade at block 3543405, expected at around 10:30 AM Beijing time on Friday, November 6 (9:30 PM Eastern Time on Thursday). After the upgrade is activated, version 4 transactions will be rejected, and this is the only transaction format available for transferring tokens out of the Sprout privacy pool; even with a valid private key, the tokens in the pool will become unusable. On Thursday morning, there were still approximately 12,200 ZEC in the Sprout pool, worth about $16 million at $1,300 per coin. Zcash holders need to transfer these tokens out before the upgrade. ZIP 2003 preserves the possibility of restoring access through a future upgrade, but warns that the transfer-out function may never be re-enabled.
