South Korea's Financial Services Commission to Hold Emergency Security Threat Response Meeting Next Week, Heads of 5 Major Domestic Banks to Attend

Odaily report: In light of frequent hacker attacks recently, South Korea's Financial Services Commission will hold an emergency seminar on AI security threat response in the financial industry on November 5, chaired by FSC Chairman Lee Eok-won. Financial Supervisory Service Governor Lee Chan-jin, Financial Security Institute President Park Sang-won, and the heads of the five major banks—KB Kookmin Bank, Shinhan Bank, Hana Bank, Woori Bank, and NH NongHyup Bank—will attend, with a focus on reviewing the implementation of strengthened security measures following recent cyberattack incidents in the financial sector.

It is reported that this meeting coincides with the terms of all five bank heads expiring on December 31, and financial groups have already begun successor selection procedures. Cybersecurity and internal control capabilities may become important variables in the year-end personnel arrangements of the five major banks. (News1)
