Binance says employee computer compromise was only the starting point of the attack; approximately $3 billion in affected assets have been frozen on-chain

Odaily Report: According to monitoring by Binance customer service representative sisi, the compromise of an employee's computer was the starting point of this incident's attack, but breaking into a single computer is not enough to transfer funds. Attackers often use sophisticated methods to infiltrate, and Binance has discovered important leads and taken measures to contain the risk. The fund transfer in this incident could not have been completed by an attacker directly exploiting a single engineer's permissions, nor was it the result of a one-click operation by any single individual; at this stage, the investigation has not attributed responsibility to any individual. Binance stated that no evidence of wallet private key leakage has been found so far, user funds are safe, and all stolen losses will be fully covered by the SAFU fund and company funds. Approximately $3 billion in affected assets have been frozen on-chain, and Binance is cooperating with law enforcement agencies and blockchain intelligence firms in the investigation. Deposits remain fully operational throughout, while withdrawals have been suspended as a precautionary measure and are expected to reopen within 48 hours.
