Firedancer requires burning 1 SOL per vulnerability report to curb AI-generated spam reports
Odaily: After a flood of AI-assisted vulnerability reports, Solana's Firedancer team has required researchers to permanently burn 1 SOL, approximately $100, for each vulnerability report submitted. The fee is non-refundable regardless of whether the report is invalid, out of scope, or a duplicate of another report; reports without a burned SOL are not eligible for rewards.
The $1 million audit competition held from April 9 to May 9 attracted 162 researchers who submitted 809 reports, producing 127 unique security findings, with nearly half of the valid submissions being duplicate reports. Jump Crypto stated that nearly all submissions involved AI agents in either discovering vulnerabilities or writing reports. The excessive volume of reports at one point caused a backlog of 299 pending reports.
