Odaily Planet Daily Report: a16z crypto has announced the release of Lattice Jolt, a new version of its open-source zero-knowledge virtual machine. This version shifts the underlying cryptography from elliptic curves to lattice-based cryptography, equipping the system with quantum resistance while improving prover and verifier speed by 2 to 3 times, with proof sizes under 100KB. Lattice Jolt employs a novel polynomial commitment scheme called Akita, based on the Module-SIS lattice hardness assumption, targeting a 128-bit security level; it can prove over 2 million RISC-V cycles per second on a CPU, and with GPU acceleration via Apple Metal, exceeds 10 million cycles on a MacBook.
