Odaily Planet Daily News: The Financial Services Commission (FSC) of South Korea stated that it will submit the second-phase legislative government bill of the "Digital Asset Basic Act" as soon as possible, and coordinate the timing of the release of guidelines for corporate crypto asset transactions with the legislative process. At the same time, it plans to include digital asset custody under independent business regulation and maintains a prudent stance on mandating exchanges to spin off custody businesses. Additionally, South Korea will also refer to the EU approach to provide a more便利准入 mechanism for traditional financial institutions applying for virtual asset service provider (VASP) licenses. Regarding the market-concerned issue of separating exchange custody businesses, the FSC noted that there are currently few cases of forced separation overseas, and it prefers to prevent conflicts of interest through improved conduct regulation rather than requiring exchanges to operate custody businesses independently.
