Lightning Labs Releases Wavelength Alpha Version, Providing Developers and AI Agents with a Bitcoin Payment Toolkit

Odaily reported that Lightning Labs has released the alpha version of Wavelength. This toolkit provides developers and AI agents with self-custodial bitcoin payment functionality through simple, non-custodial APIs, eliminating the need to run a node, manage channels, or acquire liquidity. Wavelength supports on-chain bitcoin, Lightning Network payments, and an Ark-like settlement layer. Each off-chain payment uses standard BOLT 11 invoices, ensuring interoperability with the existing Lightning Network. AI agents can call the API via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), hold balances, and pay for services like API calls in the smallest units.
