Meta to hire AWS cloud executive, accelerating data center and cloud computing expansion

Odaily reported that according to The Wall Street Journal, a senior executive at Amazon Web Services (AWS) is expected to join Meta Platforms (META.O) in the coming weeks, reflecting the social media giant's growing ambition in building data centers and computing resources. According to people familiar with the matter, Dave Brown, one of the highest-ranking executives at AWS with nearly 20 years of industry experience, will join Meta and report to Meta's infrastructure head. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated at the annual shareholder meeting in May that building a cloud computing business is "definitely on the table." He noted that companies "almost every week" contact Meta seeking access to its AI models or offering to pay a premium for using its idle computing capacity.
