Crypto trading platform BitMart recently disclosed the first-half operational data for its Prediction Market product. The data shows that since completing its first trade in January 2026, the product has covered over 10,000 prediction market events. June's monthly trading volume surged more than 1,500% month-over-month compared to May, demonstrating significant growth momentum.

According to the platform, BitMart Prediction Market is an event-driven trading product. Unlike traditional crypto trading, users can not only trade crypto asset prices but also express market judgments on topics such as sports events, 5-min Crypto, financial events, and global hot topics, earning returns by predicting event outcomes.

"Users are predicting the world every day," a BitMart representative stated. In the past, users' judgments on match results, market trends, and policy changes mostly remained at the discussion level. The prediction market transforms these viewpoints into a tradable market that users can participate in.

Low Barrier to Entry: Entering the Prediction Market via a CEX Experience

For a long time, the high entry barrier of on-chain prediction markets has constrained user growth. The complex Web3 operational process—creating wallets, managing private keys, handling gas fees, and conducting on-chain transfers—poses a significant obstacle for average users accustomed to exchange experiences.

BitMart's solution is to integrate the prediction market directly into its existing CEX account system. Users can participate directly using their current BitMart accounts without needing to create an additional wallet, undergo repeated KYC, conduct frequent on-chain transfers, or manage complex Web3 workflows.

Furthermore, the smooth capital path is a key advantage. The arrival of the FIFA World Cup in June served as a crucial growth validation window for BitMart Prediction Market.

Data reveals that June's trading volume increased by over 1,500% month-over-month compared to May, with the single month's volume accounting for more than 85% of the total first-half trading volume. The number of active traders increased to approximately 4.6 times that of May, and the number of orders increased to about 8.9 times.

The pull effect of major global events on prediction markets was directly validated by the data. As one of the world's most watched sports events, the World Cup is inherently topical and viral. Driven by interest in the event and a sense of participation, a large number of users entered the prediction market, fueling rapid growth in trading volume and user base.

Capitalizing on the World Cup's heat, BitMart also launched accompanying prediction activities with a total prize pool of 880,000 USDT. Users can earn points to participate in event predictions and share the rewards.

Preliminary Formation of a Dual-Engine Structure

Looking at the overall performance in the first half of the year, BitMart Prediction Market has initially formed a dual-engine structure of "Hot Event Trading + Short-cycle Crypto Price Trading."

In this structure, events related to Sports/FIFA cover major sporting events and real-world happenings, offering strong topicality and low entry barriers, attracting significant user attention and participation. Meanwhile, the 5-min Crypto short-cycle crypto price trading focuses on a high-frequency, real-time trading experience, catering to users' need to assess short-term price movements, resulting in higher user engagement frequency. These two categories combined contributed over 93% of the total trading volume.

By the end of June, BitMart Prediction Market had covered over 10,000 prediction market events, with more than 8,300 markets settled, achieving a settlement coverage rate exceeding 83%. The number of successful orders surpassed 23,000, and cumulative two-sided trading volume reached 685,651 USDC.

More notably, approximately 44% of successful trading users made their first BitMart trade in the prediction market. This indicates that the prediction market is not just a new trading scenario for existing users but is also becoming the entry point for many users to engage with the BitMart trading ecosystem.

Industry analysis suggests this data reflects the unique product appeal of prediction markets. Compared to traditional crypto trading, event-driven trading offers stronger topicality and a lower entry barrier, making it easier to attract users who are interested in the crypto market but haven't started trading yet.

From Asset Trading to Event Trading

The launch of the Prediction Market is also seen as a significant step in extending BitMart's trading scenarios.

Previously, BitMart users primarily participated in products like spot, futures, earn, fiat, and Web3, with trading scenarios centered around asset prices. The addition of the prediction market expands BitMart's trading landscape from "asset price trading" to encompass "event trading" and "opinion trading."

BitMart stated that it will continue to enrich the range of event categories covered by the prediction market, optimize the product experience, further lower the barrier to user participation, and promote wider acceptance of event-driven trading.

As the World Cup enters the knockout stages, the popularity of the prediction market is expected to continue rising. With CEXs accelerating their entry by leveraging their account systems and user base advantages, this may signify that the prediction market track is moving from a niche on-chain game towards a broader mainstream crypto user market.
